Democratic Primaries
Related: About this forumI may be a Gen-X white guy, but as a Warren supporter these tweets speak for me.
I'm all in no matter who we nominate, but it's still a travesty as to what happened to Warren's campaign.

(113,063 posts)Warren is the anticorruption warrior to face and replace the most corrupt WH in US history.
Her entire life has prepared her for this.
She is not wired to attack her fellow Dems. She is wired to confront corruption....relentlessly.
primary today, I would vote for: Joe Biden

(1,474 posts)To me Warren is and has been the most energetic and energizing, without the, ahem, baggage other candidates carry.
I'm at a complete loss to understand what happened, other than misogyny.
primary today, I would vote for: Joe Biden

(571 posts)... who is rising in polls and has momentum?

(42,641 posts)witness the attacks on Klobuchar accusing her of being a difficult boss, but Warren is seen as hostile to the interests of the rich.
And welcome to DU.

(571 posts)If Klobuchar was a man, she would be considered "driven" and a "perfectionist".
So I guess I am admitting that mysogyny is hurting Amy too. But she is gaining momentum.

(42,641 posts)Men are expected to be driven, and ambitious. It is seen as a positive trait. Women who exhibit the same traits are called unelectable, and unlikeable.

(464 posts)Warren has, and those monopolies and Wall Street have a lot of money, and a lot of people in the media like their money.
I'm not disparaging Amy...she's my second choice now. But Warren has been a voice for reform, and Amy has been more establishment.

(10,829 posts)We all watched what happened in 2016, the abuse, the smears, the outright lies. HRC was not only the most qualified female candidate, she was the most qualified and experienced candidate in decades. The character assassination was insane.
Now you have another qualified, well-spoken woman (Warren) who has been disappeared as if she were a light-weight.
Though Elizabeth Warren is not my candidate of choice, I think her supporters are righteously entitled to their rage. I was an ardent Hillary supporter and felt the same damn thing.

(11,257 posts)Klobuchar had a great moment in NH, but she's still seen as a second tier candidate right now. If that changes, I'd expect the same thing to happen to her.
And I say that as a fan of Klobuchar, so much so that she's probably my second choice (notwithstanding the fact that she and Warren are very different politically).

(34,170 posts)Warren could have slammed Joe Biden all day long on his support for credit card companies and civil forfeiture over families.
Warren could have slammed Bernie for not having better plans to pay for things
Warren could run circles around Pete's lack of experience.
Instead she attacked Bernie with an unprovable She said, He said incident. That backfired. She otherwise played nice.
I wanted EW to be a more practical Bernie leftist.
Maybe she'll turn it on but its getting late and it may look like desperation.
Winning the nomination and presidency has never been about being the most competent or qualified.

(31,261 posts)Then, being the detailed person she seems to be, she tried to put numbers to the biggest of those promises. Bernie just keeps sailing along making promises that aren't backed by numbers.

(3,635 posts)to come up with his numbers, then presented her own. Then forced the media to shine a light on him.
I don't see what her strategy was for the nomination.
Sexism clearly plays a huge role in this also, as it did with Kamala.

(113,063 posts)while it was Warrens duty to press Bernie?
Horsepoo. They attacked Warren as being dishonest at the debates and lauded Sanders as being honest in his position.
primary today, I would vote for: Joe Biden
radius777
(3,635 posts)but I think they thought Bernie would sink and/or he wasn't in their lane, while Warren was seen as on the rise.
In that sense they did help to uplift Bernie and bring down Warren.
But by hitting Bernie she could've shown she was the rational choice for the left, as well as attracting some centrist voters who dislike Bernie and just want to see someone call him out.
But I guess it was risky also for her, due to backlash from Bernie's base.
All of the candidates should've pummelled Bernie - if he get's the nomination he would've snuck through without having to answer for his record or plans.
primary today, I would vote for: Joe Biden

(31,261 posts)Even if she had asked him to, I seriously doubt that he would have. I can't understand why people believe that a person who has spent 30+ years in Washington and accomplished nothing beyond changes that were wildly popular across all parties (Vets Bill, naming Post Offices) will be able to effect one of the most massive overhauls in the nation's history, FDR and LBJ were far more skilled and accomplished and they didn't accomplish that.

(3,321 posts)I would be so proud to have Elizabeth Warren as my president, our president! I have not given up hope.
We have already elected a woman, a wonderful woman, president of these United States of America - Hillary Clinton won the popular vote.

CalFione
(571 posts)There's time to correct that mistake, and I hope she does. She needs to distinguish herself by highlighting her differences.
She has so much more to offer as a President than Bernie does, she needs to make the lines between them more obvious.
