Democratic Primaries
Related: About this forumI haven't seen any viewership data for last night's debate.
Based on previous debates, though, it will probably be about 8 million. Those, like me, who were sleeping during it, saw blivets of it this morning on the news.
Those debates are important for voters in primaries that about to occur. In this case, Nevada and South Carolina will most likely see some effects, but Mike Bloomberg isn't on the ballot in those states.
The larger question is how it will affect Super Tuesday. It would be interesting to be able to see what the viewership was in those 14 states. They are the ones in which Bloomberg is on the ballot, and where his ads are running non-stop these days.
I didn't see the debate - just the clips from it on Morning Joe. Clearly, Bloomberg struggled in them. But, will that effect the voters on March 3? I don't know. We'll have to wait and see, I suppose.
And what about Joe Biden? He wasn't the target last night. But, then, neither was Donald Trump - More's the pity.
primary today, I would vote for: Joe Biden

(2,706 posts)And we had a lot of early vote. It could affect South Carolina, but there is another debate between now and then and Super Tuesday is 2 weeks away.
Thats a lot of ads to help Bloomberg recover.

(20,888 posts)It's obvious your doing it because he's got an unbelievable media reach campaign and interent trolling that rivals Trump.
Of course, he promised to use the army he's built in the last month for whoever wins ... but I imagine some people aren't so sure about that.
I have no idea based on his debate performance that he can breakout and take the nomination. It's looking more and more like a slow dogfight like 2016. Which in some ways is good. It gives the Dems a lot of free coverage. And bad, I allows Trump to do lots of criminal stuff without the media spotlight on him.
March 3 is closing in, and darn it, I'm still not sure who I'm voting for.
primary today, I would vote for: Undecided

(146,329 posts)Many do, but not most. So, you're right. Media campaigns and advertising have enormous impact on how people vote.
Once again, DUers are not typical of voters in general. We follow things much more closely than most people do.
