Howard Schultz, the former Starbucks CEO and potential 2020 Democratic contender, was called out by MSNBC host Ari Velshi on Friday after lamenting the countrys economic inequality. After Schultz began offering up his own proposed solutions to what he described as a bifurcated economy in which he said some families don't even have $400 in case of an emergency, Velshi cut in. A lot of Americans knew this a long time before you really rich guys started talking about how bifurcated America is, and that's where we are today, Velshi said. Schultz shot back, claiming that he grew up in federal housing and started from the bottom up as a self-made executive. He went on to suggest that such economic problems stem from Republicans and Democrats not getting along and a lack of leadership, a claim on which Velshi once again confronted him. It's not because of the Democrats and Republicans. It's about rich people who don't pay taxes, who don't understand that it's not about charityit's actually about wealth distribution.

(58,785 posts)generally centrist versions, like those famous white working class men who left the Democratic Party for Trump because they resented losing white male superiority.
So, Schultz is badmouthing his competitor, Sanders. But they're both potential splinters, both potential disasters, threatening to throw the nation even more into the claws of the rapacious, vicious powers operating behind the Republican leadership.
Trump TV, aka Fox, is throwing them both fake "town halls" to help them do just that. Schultz's was Thursday, of course, Sanders' in a little over a week.

(2,177 posts)the status quo. The majority of the population want change, the kind of change we were promised in 2008 but never got because of the crash of the economy. I'm not blaming Obama. He did the best he could with what he had to work with, but people are tired of it and are not going to take it anymore.
