Obviously it is causing mild economic disruption as I write this. CDC is warning of other disruption. Does it change the discussion?

More interesting is what does this mean for the conventions this summer... should the virus outbreak get worse and persist into the convention time... would we simply hold a virtual convention? What if the convention goes past a first vote...

Talk about proper government role in re-investment and funding in research and vaccines.
But all of our candidates are for a functioning and functional government ...
And the glaring issue here is that the Trump administration isn't!

(12,712 posts)That depends on if Trump decides to impose sanctions and tariffs on the virus to stop it. He may be able to negotiate with the virus and get it to stop.
More seriously, it is really too early to tell how much of an impact it will have here. I think we will know in about a month, all things considered. China is and will have disruptions that will certainly impact the global economy, though, IMHO.
If it turns into a major pandemic, then its going to be disruption city and I don't think the US is at all well prepared for it as per Trump's budget axe swinging everywhere.

(5,790 posts)Investors tend to turn to stodgy, steady, old companies that aren't spectacular, but sell staples - companies that make personal care items or foodstuffs.
Does the primary voter take a second look at Biden's "brand" and see him as steady and a known-quantity?
