Team Bloomberg Deleted Its Terrible Thread of Fake Bernie Sanders Quotes

Michael Bloomberg’s campaign is backpedaling from a series of wild tweets it pushed out Monday attacking Bernie Sanders for supposedly loving murderous dictators.

The billionaire’s social media team deleted a thread of fake quotes implying the Vermont senator’s affinity for authoritarians, including Josef Stalin, Bashar Assad, and Kim Jong Un. One tweet comprised a faux love letter to Vladimir Putin, and some critics called it out as homophobic.

“‘Vladimir Putin is willing to poison anyone who disagrees with him, but have you seen how that guy looks without a shirt!!! Mmm delish!’” --- #BernieOnDespots,” it said.

The thread left out Bloomberg’s real claim last year that Chinese leader Xi Jinping is “not a dictator.” It was ratio’d into oblivion before getting scrubbed late Monday night. Bloomberg spokeswoman Sabrina Singh confirmed that the campaign erased the posts but offered no further comment as to why.

on Filthy Donnie's head was real.

And if you thought it was fake, were you very outraged that the Bloomberg team tried to make you believe it was real?

Bloomberg has far less allegiance to the Democratic Party than even the notoriously Independent Senator from Vermont, who never stood at the podium of a Republican National Convention and endorsed a Republican running for President. Under circumstances less catastrophic than the emergency we face today in needing to depose trump, Bloomberg has always indicated that he would not have hesitated to run for President as an Independent against both the Republican and Democratic Parties, had his careful team of consultants calculated he could win. So now he figures, with fear in the air, he can run as a Democrat and win.

Bloomberg doesn't care about the future viability of the Democratic Party, so he doesn't care about brutally trashing the candidate who overwhelmingly has the loyalty of Democrats under 40. It's not his concern, he'll already be in his 80's after he leaves office, under his preferred scenario.

A lot of people here like him unleashing on Bernie but they won't like it when he goes after others. Which he will.

And you're right he doesn't care at all. And that thing he wouldn't have hesitated doing? He still wouldn't.

He's already said that it's going to be a one-on-one race with Sanders. If you're expecting him to hit the others like he's hitting Sanders, you're going to be disappointed.

"Bloomberg doesn't care about the future viability of the Democratic Party"

Right, that's why he spent tens of millions on Democratic races in 2018 to help flip the House. Because he doesn't care about the party.

He's close to the bottom of my list, but the constant barrage of nonsense assertions about him on DU has reached critical mass. There's enough bad stuff in his past to last a couple of elections, but that doesn't stop people from just making shit up.

"overwhelmingly has the loyalty of Democrats under 40"

Right, because they're the only ones who vote, so who cares about the rest of the electorate?
