4. Three goals
Tue Feb 25, 2020, 11:15 PM
Feb 2020

First, get second place on Super Tues. If she can be the primary alternative to Sanders, this sets her up for the same long-shot one on one scenario both Warren and the moderates want (and she's more likely to win it, too, because she can crowd Sanders by winning a portion of people like me who like both of them). In that respect pulling Sanders down isn't as a big as pushing herself up & taking down a moderate competitor.

Second, set up for contested convention. To have a chance of winning a contested convention, she needs to be second in delegates and have Sanders slow down. It's easier/more likely to win to push for that second place & hope events take out Sanders on their own.

Third, not hurt the other progressive. She said it herself at the beginning of this debate - she agrees in a lot of ways on the issues. She thinks she'd be a more effective champion, but she may legitimately like Sanders more than the other candidates.

Sanders came off as bitter and angry.
Biden was the statesman, he almost looked like he was enjoying the in-fighting
Bloomberg held his own
Buttigieg did well, countered Sanders well
Klobuchar did well, but didn't get enough time
Steyer should pack it in, he's got good ideas but he's politically weak

I like Warren since she wants good things for America, not for herself. She chose not to run in 2016 to avoid competing against Hillary and risk being a spoiler.

I also have my own ideas on what Dem primary voters have been thinking. It seems like they might want to correct some wrongs from 2016. Traditionally it's been the GOP who nominates their second place finisher the next time around.
