At this point in 2008 I was listening to Barack's speeches

On my iPod when I went for walks every day. They lifted my heart. The 2004 Democratic Convention- remember?

Iowa, New Hampshire, South Carolina... they so lifted my spirits. He made me feel hopeful for our country. He made me feel like we were all in this together.

I realize that we don’t have a Barack in this race and it’s not reasonable to look for anything like those speeches. I also understand that he was speaking before we experienced the traitorous savagery of McConnell putting his party ahead of our national interests from day 1 to our peril, keeping judgeships vacant and refusing to even bring Merrick Garland to a vote.

But I’m sure there are moments you’d like others to see and hear that brought you to support your preferred candidate.

I’m already decided but I’d like to hear your candidate’s best. If you would oblige please post them here.

For Barack Obama’s brilliant light you can find all his speeches of that period and many more here:

It was a creed written into the founding documents
That declared the destiny of a nation - yes we can
It was whispered by slaves and abolitionists
As they blazed a trail toward freedom Yes we can.
It was sung by immigrants as they struck out from distant shores
And pioneers who pushed westward against an unforgiving wilderness - Yes we can
It was the call of workers who organized
Women who reached for the ballots
A President who chose the moon as our new frontier
And a King who took us to the mountaintop
And pointed the way to the Promised Land
Yes we can to justice, and equality

Yes we can

Yes we can, to opportunity and prosperity

Aloha

I hope we have a just system then.

Reminds me of the “time machine” in Dave Eggers’ tutoring center with a sign that said
Out of Order
Come Back Yesterday

Thank you, fixed.

Please do share your Mayor Pete highlights if you don’t mind. Mahalo.

I would rather hear Obama highlights. My support for Pete is kind of soft. I would not wait seven hours to see and hear him like I did Obama.
