It can happen: ex Hillary Clinton staffer likes Bernie Sanders

From the CNN post-caucus coverage on Saturday night:

JESS MCINTOSH, FORMER DIRECTOR OF COMMUNICATIONS OUTREACH, HILLARY CLINTON CAMPAIGN:

"I worked for Hillary Clinton in 2016. I was not a Bernie Sanders supporter, although I'm pretty far to the left and I really liked the agenda that he was talking about. I had reservations about the campaign he was running. The campaign that I have seen in 2020 has been a very different one, a much more inclusive one. The way that he talks about race and gender has really made me feel like this is a candidate who gets it in a way that I didn't feel -- I didn't feel comfortable with before. And it's been really nice to see that happening. It's been a great relief to see that happen. And I'm glad that those ideas are, you know, catching on as much as they are."

Also, from her twitter feed the same day:

Important clarification: When Russia interferes on behalf of Trump they’re doing it to help Trump win. When Russia interferes on behalf of Bernie they are doing it to divide the Democrats AND HELP TRUMP WIN.

He had a 38/60 favorable/unfavorable rating and received only 46% of the popular vote. A more standard Republican would have done considerably better than that in both counts.

I had no plans to pay attention to 2016 until the GOP nominated Trump. Hillary was so polarizing and with such low favorables she was guaranteed to lose a close race against a normal Republican. The right track/wrong track numbers were abysmal in 2016.
