It could be quite a long while before we have results in California

It could be quite a long while before we have results in California, both at the presidential level and for congressional primaries. Hear it from state Secretary of State Alex Padilla: “Due to state law, and frankly the sheer size of California, the vote count will continue well beyond election night,” he told reporters, per POLITICO California’s Jeremy B. White. More from Jeremy: “A long California count is not considered a shortcoming by state leaders but a deliberate feature of permissive state rules intended to enfranchise as many people as possible. Ballots mailed by voters on Election Day are still counted as long as they arrive within three days after Election Day. Other rules allow voters to register on Election Day, after which officials need to verify their ballots.”

The results skew older and whiter at first because the ballots returned early do. Then it will trend the other direction over the days to follow the election. That’s of course how a few Republican Congress members led on election night 2018 only to ultimately be defeated.

And saying "fuck fuck fuck" as the Orange County districts were looking red until about the end of the final week before Election Day.

I believe I recall Kamala Harris being behind at first during her first Attorney General statewide run in 2010. It’s nice to have some extra wins come through later on.

The right cries fraud at times probably without understanding the way it’s working. Or perhaps they do understand.
