Democratic Primaries
Related: About this forum"The American people do not want a revolution".
More than one candidate has made that point.
However, might it be premature to make such a statement?
What happens if Trump loses the next election but refuses to leave?
What hsppens if he wins and continues the destruction of our democracy and our institutions?
When will be the right time to revolt against this destruction of our country?
Do we believe that a peaceful resolution is the only option and revolution must never be mentioned?

(12,599 posts)I mean, look at '18. There was NO doubt who won that election. If there was a group stealing the vote, the Dems wouldnt have won the House. And certainly not by the margin it did. And Doug Jones sure wouldnt have won in ALABAMA!

White men, not so much.
See also, the Civil War.
See also - the insistence that there be a "revolution" to overthrow the "illegitimate Kenyan" by the tea party.
There is a reason that the constitution made it difficult to remove an administration other than by impeachment or the vote.

(86,776 posts)what the white male historians reported, sure. But if you go and research other sources, you might find a different result. Not all war crimes of the time were accurate. No rapes were reported and probably a bunch of mass murders and other cruel treatment of women, children and People of color.
Depends on your source of info there.

The distinguished Civil War historian James McPherson has estimated that there were 50,000 civilian deaths during the war, and has concluded that the overall mortality rate for the South exceeded that of any country in World War I and all but the region between the Rhine and the Volga in World War II.

White men were making all the decisions about who would live, who would die, and to whom would go the spoils. They were the ones in power, and it was started on behalf of preserving White Supremacy.
You really think that White Men won't be calling the shots in any similar "revolution" here in the US?

(12,599 posts)No race has a lock on the savagery market. All through history & as recent as right NOW we see it.
There will not be some nonsensical "revolution" here. If trump loses, he loses. Some of his hardcore minions will bitch and whine on social media and radio and thats as far as it'll go. Maybe a few stupid marches. Trump WILL be put out by force if he was so stupid enough to not leave on his own in Jan '21.
I'm not going to go thru life worrying about such nonsense, but i am also prepared for many things. As we all should be. Whether its trump, Covid, Carrington effect, massive storms, whatever.

(12,599 posts)He would be removed most likely by the Secret Service; so the ACTUAL President could take possession of the residence. There will not be some standoff with "Trump loyalists" in the security services.
he probably likes to think that, but its not going to happen
