Klobuchar rally in Minnesota canceled amid protests

Politico

Sen. Amy Klobuchar canceled a rally in her home state Sunday night as several dozen protesters chanted “Black Lives Matter,” “Klobuchar has got to go” and “Free Myon” — referencing the case of a black teenager convicted of murder after a flawed police investigation.

According to videos that emerged on social media, the senator’s rally was set in St. Louis Park, Minn., at a local high school. WCCO-CBS Minnesota reported that the protesters made their way into the rally and on stage, where they continued chanting. After a 40-minute delay, the rally was canceled.

Klobuchar was shifting gears to focus on Super Tuesday after a distant sixth-place finish in the South Carolina primary and fifth-place finish in the Nevada caucuses. Though she had a strong showing in New Hampshire, she has struggled since and faced questions about her campaign’s viability. The pressure grew on Sunday night when Pete Buttigieg suspended his bid for the Democratic nomination.

She wins Minnesota and takes the night to celebrate with her state, then makes the call on Wednesday morning.

Are they free to vote for whomever they please? Does she get to assign them or "donate" them to someone else? Can she instruct or direct or advise her delegates how to cast their vote? Or are the obligated to vote for her for the first round?

There was a disagreement here on DU as to whether or not she can assign them to another candidate or whether they become free agents. It seems to me the whole point of her "keeping her delegates" is lost if she can't have some say in where they go.

Hopefully someone can clarify this.

If she keeps them they are required to vote for her on the first ballot. If she releases them they can vote for whomever they want. She can't assign or give them to anyone.

Or Black Lives Matter.

President of the NAACP Minneapolis Chapter Leslie Redmond told
@CBSNews
protesters asked the Klobuchar campaign to “recognize Myon Burrell on stage,” and explain their cause to attendees tonight.

“Instead the campaign cancelled the event. That’s on them, not us,” Redmond said.

Beloveds! Gosh, this just makes my day! FINALLY my senator gets called to atone AT HOME for her racist history as a prosecutor. About time. We will welcome each & every #AmyKlobuchar supporter to our #NotMeUs movement for criminal justice reform! #BlackLivesMatter #FreeMyon

Burnell's newest story began to emerge in 2018 while Amy was running for reelection. But Keith needed her to squeak by. Now he doesn't. I think that is a telling point.

I think BLM should look back at Tawana Brawley before getting much deeper into this. After all Burrell was called down to the war, the week before several calls were made to him to get down to Minneapolis because the war was on.

Burrell was not pulled out of a hat. He would have been a prime suspect from the start as the designed shooter for that splinter of the gang as was the intended target for the other side. The fact that he was even in town had to be very suspicious as the war was heating up. Once it was found that the week before he had been told to get down to town just added to that.
