Consolidation To Biden, Even If He Gets the Nomination, Doesn't Imply A Win Against Trump

I see a lot of sighs of relief as the moderates dump out and endorse Biden.

1. That does not mean the nomination is guaranteed to Biden.
2. Even if Biden gets the nomination, it doesn't guarantee a win against Trump.

I'm surprised to see so many take such solace in what is happening. Only 4 states have voiced their opinion... it's sad really to see other states lose their voice and simply get on bandwagons.

I'm also surprised as every time we think we have a great candidate (Gore, Kerry, Clinton), we are shown that it is not about that. It's about what the candidate represents. Other than returning to Obama's policies, I'm not sure what Joe represents. He's never won a primary in the three times he ran for President until this last Saturday. So he got one primary win under his belt. And it's clear he's not going to sweep the nomination on Super Tuesday.

As someone who believes in a policy driven platform that takes this nation forward, and as someone who supports a candidate who is actually running on those policies with a plan to make them real and who has a track-record for getting things done, and has a tremendous campaign record, I am worried about the coronation happening right now. The party is basically giving the nod to someone who doesn't have a clear policy position, who has a not so great campaign record and has a tendency to get himself into trouble when talking.

We are going to lose if Biden is the nominee and does not make his policy positions clear, why it is better for Americans, how he can get it done and if he continues to campaign poorly.

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:

When one person owns more than all bottom half Americans combined, it is well past time to just go along to get along. . When I arrived in this country as JFK was getting elected, the middle class was strong, marginal tax rates were high, and there were no Billionaires calling shots and own the politicians. All this while the bottom 90% are basically marching in place while the top 1% get richer faster and faster. If it won't be Warren, I will be switching to Bernie.

It won't. Tom Malinowski flipped it after decades of GOP Representation in Washington (a former Obama admin employee).

It doesn't matter how great of a campaigner Sanders is - he's not good at retail politics in the way your Candidate is. Malinowski is a soft spoken, extremely intelligent life long public servant.

Two men could not be more different - and it took Tom to oust Leonard Lance (a Hunterdon County dynasty politician). We have Governor Kean's son running out here on the GOP ticket.

Sanders will NOT help Tom. Biden, Warren, Bloomberg could. BTW- Warren got the party line in Hunterdon County followed by Bloomberg.

No one really pays attention to the platform once it's done. Voters certainly don't. They look to what the campaign's message is.

Besides, the 2016 platform was already the most progressive in history. It's not like we're going to backtrack if Biden is the nominee.

Alas, you have to win the nomination before you even stand a chance at beating Trump. And I’m afraid Warren is not going to accomplish that. In the four early contests she came in 3rd in Iowa, 4th in New Hampshire and Nevada, and 5th in South Carolina. I don’t see where she is able to turn that around, short one or two of the candidates getting run over by a bus r succumbing to the coronavirus.

Mon Mar 2, 2020, 05:14 PM

You mention Gore, Clinton, Kerry.

What you failed to recognize is that twice we have tried to run a campaign based on raising middle class taxes

McGovern, we won one state, Massachusetts

Mondale, we won one state, Minnesota.

Don't know where you live but in AZ the Republicans almost gave up on defending McSally against our great candidate Mark Kelly.

Now they are spending millions linking Kelly to Sanders, at the end of the ad they have a clip of Bernie looking into the camera and stating

"Yes I am going to raise taxes on the middle class"

Stop looking at Clinton, Kerry and Gore where we narrowly lost but stayed strong in the House and Senate and look at McGovern and Mondale where a promise to raise middle class taxes have Republicans their greatest landslides.

You are not sure what Biden represents? How about a lifetime of compassionate Democratic values grounded in practical achievable policies.

You prefer a visitor who over promises under delivers and is on track with middle class tax increases, all of which leads to landslide loses?

I have heard Kamala Harris as a VP possibility also, but I would prefer her to be AG in a Democratic Administration. Also, I think if Joe got the nomination, Warren as his running mate might mollify some progressives and bring more progressives into the big tent.
