(6,544 posts)She's been emphasizing that a lot in her recent speeches and events. I've also noticed that a huge number of Warren voters switching to Biden and only a few switching to Sanders. I don't think people realize is that Warren people are pragmatic progressives, and in a lot of cases, don't like Sanders, his "revolution", and/or their tactics.
Working together, these candidates are unstoppable

(113,063 posts)I think Sanders voters prefer talk and have no need for their candidate to prove competence at getting things done, let alone results.
Thats a pretty sad system of reward in my view.

I just cant bring myself to vote for Biden in the primary when it gets to my state.
Hopefully, Liz will still be in it. But, if shes not, I will vote for Sanders. I love Liz, but her endorsement of Biden (if she does endorse Biden) will not influence my vote. I want a president who is going to fight to move the country forward. And Biden does not represent progress to me.

(2,657 posts)and a lot of us see the same kind of things that we liked in Hillary Clinton in Senator Warren. I've generally always gone with Biden, but there were times when I thought, "Warren, maybe?". I even changed my DU preference to her for a week right after she started pushing for Trump to be impeached just to be in solidarity with her.
Even though there is a lot of overlap between Warren's polices and Bernie's policies, Warren is sharp enough to know that declaring herself a "Socialist" or trying to make an enemy out of the current Democratic establishment would both risky moves. She's just a better politician than Bernie is. Bernie mostly benefits from the people who pulled the lever for him in 2016 habitually being willing to pull it again.

(6,544 posts)Let's face it, all of our candidates want roughly the same thing in the end. Peace, justice, stability, health care for everyone, an end to the wealth gap and a fix for global warming. What will get it done is the ability to work in, and with, teams. If any candidate is unable to negotiate a coalition among people who basically want the same thing, how on earth would they expect to do so over health care or global climate change?

(113,063 posts)and it is not about political appearances for her. Its always been about building a financial industry infrastructure where capitalists are held to account for any exploitative programs they offer that are detrimental to the working families they target.
She wants capitalism to work for everybody not just the predators.
Accountable capitalism is the smartest platform a nominee could have.

(6,544 posts)It's very distressing that people who call themselves progressive are choosing a man with significantly fewer credentials than a woman who can get things done.
But don't underestimate Biden. He's always been an ACTUAL man of the people. And my guess is that every candidate in the race who wants a cabinet position and a seat at the table will get offered one, unless he or she refuses it.
I've had enough of the great divide, let's vote the GOP out once and for all, together, and we won't have to fear "reaching over" to our fellow Americans, even if we disagree.

I started out favoring Warren, but she flubbed her M4A message and it was clear she wasn't getting Bernie supporters, so I gave up on her, though I like her a lot. But the most important thing for me is to beat Trump and flip the Senate.
Accusing people of "smoking sh*t" who disagree with you is a great way to get them on your candidate's side. Keep it up!

(51,564 posts)Elizabeth Warrens departure from the Democratic presidential race appears to have benefited front-runner Joe Biden more than Bernie Sanders, her liberal ally on many issues, according to a Reuters/Ipsos national opinion poll released on Monday.
The poll conducted from Friday to Monday showed that 47% of registered Democrats and independents said they would vote for Biden if their states nominating contests were held today, up 7 points from a similar poll that ran just before Warren suspended her campaign last Thursday.
Thirty percent said they would vote for Sanders, a senator from Vermont, unchanged from the previous poll.

(7,867 posts)I consider myself a progressive and I would have eagerly voted for Warren, if not for Sanders in the race. I dislike Sanders immensely -- this is coming from someone that voted for him in 2016, mind you -- and I will not cast my vote in a way that allows him to be our nominee. If it really is all about "Not me. Us." for the Sanders people, presumably they would have voted for Warren if Sanders had never declared since she would have been the strongest progressive out there. In such a situation, Warren would have also gotten many progressive voters like myself that are more than happy to vote for a progressive, just not Sanders and all the divisiveness that surrounds him.
Sanders being in the race probably prevented a progressive from winning the nomination. This is pretty much the story of his life, with his unique talent in alienating would-be allies always proving to be more of a hindrance to promoting the types of values he claims to espouse. His message may be worthwhile, but he is a poor messenger. He has implied repeatedly that he doesn't see the value in forging the types of relationships and goodwill necessary to bring about the change, he just thinks that his message is enough. It's not. I only hope that he hasn't set millions of young people out on a similarly failed course because it will only hurt progressivism in the decades ahead. If that were unfortunately to happen, it will be just yet another example of Sanders being his own worst enemy when it comes to getting progressive policies implemented.

(55,445 posts)accuse folks like me of being corporate neocons when I've been volunteering for Dem campaigns before most of them were fucking born, claim the primary is rigged, accuse everyone of collusion, then say they're going to purge the "establishment Dems" and chop all our heads off like it's 1789 and then they have the unmitigated gall to question why we aren't chomping at the bit to form an alliance with them...
So it's clearly evident the Berners didn't learn shit after 2016... The only things they've improved on is gaming the media and trolling folks on social media...
