What, now happens to the absentee ballots for Kobuchar, Pete and Steyer?

Will they just be discarded and not counted? For example, if 1 million votes cast and 100,000 are for candidates that left, would the 15% be based on the 1 million or on 900,000 votes?

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

They are tabulated and totaled as if the person were still in the race. However, in some states, absentee ballots can be cancelled out and a new vote made in its place if it is done by election day. Each person should check with his or her state as the rules can vary widely.

I don't really know the protocol any more. Back in 1968 it seemed like RFK's delegates ended up in the Hubert Humphrey corral, for want of a better term.

In Michigan, you can void your early ballot (it had to happen Saturday I think). In California, you’re stuck. Your vote for a lapsed candidate will count for that candidate.

This is one election where you should NOT vote early, or at least until several days after Super Tuesday. More will drop out. Or who knows, someone could contract COVID-19.

You cannot legally not count votes. And if they are viable they will win delegates.

will this be binding?

Say, Buttigieg is awarded 50 delegates in California, can he release them to Biden?

but they are free to vote for whoever they choose. They are only pledged to Buttigieg and if he's not there-they can vote their conscience
