For Joe Biden to say an openly gay Buttigieg reminds him of his dead son

is so huge. 40% of homeless kids are LGBTQ, and many of them are homeless due to their parents rejecting them. Chasten himself, had major issues with his family over being gay. For the person who is quite likely to be our next President to say something like that is nothing short of amazing. For many it is hard to be gay. For others, thankfully not so much. What Joe and Pete did is make it at least some easier. That isn't nothing, it is, in Joe's words, a big fucking deal.

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

22. June 1: "Biden declares LGBTQ rights his No. 1 legislative priority"
Mon Mar 2, 2020, 10:40 PM
Mar 2020
COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden declared Saturday that the Equality Act would be his top legislative priority, an effort to enshrine LGBTQ protections into the nation’s labor and civil rights laws.

The former vice president shared his hopes of signing the legislation as part of a keynote address to hundreds of activists at the Human Rights Campaign’s annual Ohio gala on the first day of Pride Month. In a half-hour at the lectern, his remarks ranged from emotional tributes to his audience and their personal endurance to condemnations of President Donald Trump.

“It’s wrong and it is immoral what they’re doing,” Biden said of the Trump administration. Among other Trump polices, he cited attempts to bar transgender troops in the U.S. military, allow individuals in the medical field to refuse to treat LGBTQ individuals, and allow homeless shelters to refuse transgender occupants.

“Just like with racial justice and women’s rights, we are seeing pushback against all the progress we’ve made toward equality,” Biden said.

I am so sorry that your brother and your family went through this. As a teen myself, people were very rarely coming out, but occasionally, and it was horrific. My mom, who was a devout Catholic (and this was not yet accepted by the church) said to me one day, “These kids are getting killed or killing themselves. It’s not a choice. Nobody makes a choice as a teenager to suffer. It’s hard enough.”
I have 3 siblings. I think she was giving us the all clear, in her own way. She also made sure my sisters and I went on the pill when we turned 16. She’s kind of prudish, but I guess she was no fool, either.
That people still insist young people make this choice, which is so very difficult, and often leads to stories like yours, saddens me beyond words.
Here’s to you brother’s partner. 🍻

I remember one time on Meet the Press, Biden made a comment supporting gay marriage. It was at a time when Obama had not made statements supporting it & Biden's comment forced Obama to make a similar statement

I never have understood why a parent could turn away from their kid just because he or she became gay! That is not a situation that any kid should be forced into!
