BERNIE SANDERS LEADS THE DEMOCRATIC 2020 PACK, NOW HE'S COMING FOR THE FOX NEWS CROWD

(snip)

Sanders also knows that he offers an alternative to Americans who voted for President Donald Trump in 2016 because they felt forgotten disregarded by those who make policy in Washington. Trump knows this too, which is why he’s worked so hard to vilify socialism ahead of 2020. But by drawing attention to socialism, the president is unwittingly also drawing attention to his potential presidential contender.

In an attempt to appeal to some on the right who might be averse to yet curious about socialism, Sanders agreed to participate in a town hall on Fox News on April 15. The decision riled a number of his Democratic colleagues who view the channel as a right-wing propaganda outlet.

(snip)

Questions about Sanders’s age continue, and if Joe Biden does enter the race, Sanders will soon face new competition. But right now, he’s banking on being the only candidate who can meet and beat Trump on the president’s own terms.

“In precisely the way Donald Trump has emboldened the right, Bernie will be a huge movement builder for the left if he is president,” said Meagan Day, a prominent socialist activist and writer, at a Democratic Socialists of America conference last month. “Trump understands the propaganda value of his actions very well. I would contend that not only does Bernie understand it too, but he actually has much better intuition and instincts about this than Donald Trump does.”

This seems true, and I think it will very soon cost women their bodily autonomy, among many other things. Because a significant number of people on the left have to be "energized" or else they either won't participate or vote third-party to send a message, we have Trump and the Republicans packing the courts that will impact women and the rest of us for a generation.

Had these people thought more about long-term consequences to others rather than their own need to feel energized, basic things like reproductive choice and the rule of law would not be in nearly as much jeopardy as they are now.

This need to be energized has proved very costly.

So many of of my left friends were almost giddy to NOT vote for Hillary. They tried to talk me into sitting it out...NO WAY!!

I am not able to erase the memory how it felt to hear that Hillary had lost. The numbers only made it worse. In Philly, my home town, some BLM members actually celebrated her loss. I will never understand it or forget it.

13. Sanders "leads the Democratic 2020 pack" ONLY if Biden isn't included.
Tue Apr 9, 2019, 10:05 PM

The Newsweek article you link to cherrypicks facts throughout.

For instance, its Morning Cosult poll reference links to an Intercept article whose very biased headline focuses on Bernie having the most support among Hispanic voters. Even more than Biden, supposedly, according to that poll, for that one group.

The article's bias is undermined by the graph that's included, which shows Biden leading Sanders among members of every other group they polled:

Female (Biden over Sanders 34-25)
Male (33-25)
Black (36-25)
Total among Democratic primary voters (35-25)
Early primary state voters (37-28)

But hey! In that one poll, Bernie led Joe among Hispanics 33-24, so that's what the articles harps on.

That Newsweek article also cites an Emerson poll and cherrypicks again there, showing Sanders leading Biden in MA...though that same poll also showed Biden beating Trump by 10 points more than Sanders would, which meant mixed results for Sanders from the poll, a fact his devotees seem unable to see.

not just a bunch of dotty old people. They are people who have supported racism, have no problem with sexual assault or caging people in camps. They are willing to look aside and support policies that allowed the theft of trillions of dollars for the rich from working people and deny healthcare to the ill and disabled.

Sanders himself seems to me to dabble in some of those ideas. Providing them with an alternate ideologue would mean aligning with their beliefs because they sure will not abandon their cultural values. Hatred of others for immutable qualities is not resolved by economic stylings. The racists in that viewer base have worked for decades to achieve a power base. This is not just people mesmerized by a cult leader with a few enforcers.
