Democratic Primaries
Related: About this forumWith Eric and Pete and Beto and (ugh) Tulsi running, it suddenly occurred to me
that Rep. Joe Kennedy III doesn't seem so young anymore.
And he's awfully popular in Massachusetts, where he won 70% of the vote in 2016 and ran unopposed last fall.

(7,142 posts)The person will need to be as tough as nails to beat trump, so far I have 4 people in mind. Tulsi makes my list because she was former military, counting mayor Pete, I think we only have 2.

100+ Progressive Reasons to Oppose Tulsi Gabbard for President
Below is a 125+ post Twitter thread documenting Democratic Congresswoman and 2020 presidential contender Tulsi Gabbards indefensible political record covering everything from her unchanged hatred of LGBTs to praising Putins war crimes in Syria to saying Black Lives Matter protesters engaged in terrorism to voting to allow mentally ill veterans buy guns.
Each post contains hyperlinks to evidence and screenshots so that people can see for themselves that she is no progressive.

Just a reminder for you; only 1 Democratic House member voted to not give Bush the authority to invade Iraq, and that was Barbara Lee. Every other Democratic House member was wrong and Barbara was right. I don't believe that Assad gassed his own people, it hasn't been conclusively proven to convince me. It would have been stupid for Assad to cross that red line. I believe that it was a false flag perpetrated by SA and Israel. Yeah I know president Obama said that Assad did it, but I notice that president Obama didn't take any action, makes one wonder. Assad is a brutal dictator just like Saddam was, but the real reason we went into Syria had to do with natural gas pipelines. Assad refused Qatar permission to build its pipeline across Syria, the US and SA were behind the Qatar pipeline. The only way to get it built and get Qatari gas to Europe was to oust Assad. Enter Russia, to protect Assad and enable an Iran/Iraq gas pipeline to be built across Syria and into Europe. This gas still needed to go through Ukraine and Russia's gas line contract with Ukraine expires next year, hence Russia's invasion of Ukraine. Hillary was pushing for Ukraine to develop its own gas and to ship its excess to Europe which would cut off or severely diminish Russian gas going to Europe. That is why Putin hated Hillary. Also it is rumored that Putin gave Trump a piece of Rosneft which is why Putin helped elect Trump.
Tulsi was there, she served, she saw what was happening. War is always about money and the ousting of Assad was about gas and oil pipelines.
Tulsi's problem was her stance on the LGBTQ community, I listened to her video where she stated that she was wrong and flat out apologized for her past views.
I purposely picked Tulsi because she is our underdog candidate, because she has been attacked more from the left than from the right. She was one of the first to be eaten by our own. She has the one criteria that it will take to beat Donald Trump, she is tough as nails, everything else doesn't matter with me. If our candidate can't stand toe to toe with Trump he will win again and we will lose.

(25,471 posts)There are plenty of other candidates who are "tough as nails" without the "everything else" that's significantly problematic with her record.
As for her apology, she didn't have any choice. Her prior stance on LGBTQ issues would be political suicide in a Dem primary. It remains to be seen if enough people buy the apology for her to gain any traction.
