Democratic Primaries

Sanders did help move the party to a more progressive stance last time, but I believe Biden has a better chance than him of beating the orange asshole.
but...I am getting old, will I ever get to vote for somebody I am actually enthusiastic about?
yes normal will be a thrill, yes Biden is a good experienced candidate and I do like Jill. I may well get more enthusiasm as things go along but I am so disappointed in this country. between the too-large chunk of idiots that think something like drumpf is worth anything other than a joke, and people who can't or won't vote for a good younger or female candidate with some new perspectives...
primary today, I would vote for: Joe Biden

(2,947 posts)presidential responsibilities in 4 years and hold that office for two terms. Or she can start as VP and then be appointed to the USSC and then Biden can name another VP, who will then hold the Pres office for two terms. Amy would not be my VP choice. Stacey would not be my VP choice, but surely there's a place for her in the administration.
Regardless of who is elected if they do not expand the USSC we will be spinning our wheels and change will not happen. Biden has said he is against expanding the USSC. We'll find out whether that's true or whether his position is a campaign secret.

(102,352 posts)I'd support almost anyone I thought could rid us of that scourge. Fortunately, I think Biden is an inherently decent man.
We must just survive. We might see a woman assume the Presidency yet.

(1,773 posts)Demography is destiny. This will be one of the last elections ever where the choices are so limited and devoid of diversity. It's inevitable.

(55,019 posts)drumpf may actually be doing what he set out to do - erasing every trace of Obama. yes I was so amazed and proud that we elected him. it seems so long ago and far away now doesn't it? one step forward, three back.
I was just a bit depressed this morning.

(29,090 posts)It DOES seem like forever since Obama's presidency. Don't be depressed, though..It's clear that Diversity has made BIG strides..Could we have imagined a gay man even RUNNING for president ten years ago, let alone doing as well as Pete has?...I'm disappointed about Elizabeth Warren, but I think -- in THIS election, especially -- people are afraid to "take chances"". They see the spectre HRC and think "A woman can't win" and then, again, she has progressive policies, another "chancey" proposition for a very nervous electorate.
We may have to wait until the particular emergency of Trump has passed before we see a real "change" election. That said, I'm confident of it's coming.

(6,476 posts)in Texas yesterday I voted for a black US Senator, a black US House Representative and a rainbow of other representatives or judges
I think this Old White Man has voted for more "minorities" than "old white men" for several elections
Voting for the best qualified candidate should be color-blind and no Democrat should take that criticism based upon our record of diversity

(2,127 posts)I too, would like to be enthused again, but I guess my fear for the life of our country this time chose me to go to Joe. The first thing we need right now is someone who can step in and fix this downward spiral our country is in.
