He says it will cost a trillion a year, analysts say even more. Who's going to get elected on that. How's he going to pay for it after he has ruled out deductibles and co-pays which exist for the supplements you need when you have real medicare. And good policy that, pushing the nuclear option.

Ageism is rampant in lay-offs and hiring. Once someone 55+ loses a good job, it can be difficult to go back to work at a comparable position. But COBRA is only good for 18 months and Medicare currently isn't available until 65.

Address this gap. If it works, then gradually lower the age. Eventually - voila! - Medicare for all who want it.

to give up their employer based insurance for the leap for faith that MFA requires. Every job I had as an adult had better insurance than the medicare I have now as a retiree. I spend quite a bit extra to get all the medicare coverage options and I still need to buy supplemental insurance.

Medicare is a program created to address the healthcare needs for seniors not families. Medicare doesn't meet the needs of young people. Medicaid should be the public option like it was under Obamacare until trump took a hatchet to it. Make it free. But leave Medicare alone.

passed without any Republican votes.

Go back in time - remember when Ted Kennedy died - the 60 Dem vote in the Senate died as well. So Harry Reid cut a deal with Nancy Pelosi. The House passed the Senate bill without changes and the Senate agreed to pass a separate bill by the House that made changes to the Senate version of Obamacare - which was called the Reconciliation Act of 2010.

The Senate at that time had 60 Democrats, just enough to pass Obamacare. However after the bill passed the Senate, Democrat Senator Ted Kennedy died. In his place, Massachusetts elected Republican Scott Brown. That meant that if the House made any changes to the bill the Senate wouldn’t have the necessary number of votes to pass the amended bill (because they knew no Republicans would vote for Obamacare). So Senate Leader Harry Reid cut a deal with Pelosi: the House would pass the Senate bill without any changes if the Senate agreed to pass a separate bill by the House that made changes to the Senate version of Obamacare. This second bill was called the Reconciliation Act of 2010. So the House passed PPACA, the Senate bill, as well as their Reconciliation Act. At this point PPACA was ready for the President to sign, but the Senate still needed to pass the Reconciliation Act from the House.

Here's a recap for those who don't remember the details.

July 2009: Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi and a group of Democrats from the House of Representatives reveal their plan for overhauling the health-care system.
August 25, 2009: Massachusetts senator Ted Kennedy dies
September 24, 2009: Democrat Paul Kirk is appointed interim senator from Massachusetts, which temporarily restores the Democrats’ filibuster-proof 60th vote.
November 7, 2009: House of Representatives, 219 Democrats and one Republican vote for the ACA and 39 Democrats and 176 Republicans vote against it.
December 24, 2009: In the Senate, 60 Democrats vote for the Senate’s version of the bill, called America’s Healthy Future Act
January 2010: In the Senate, Scott Brown, a Republican, wins the special election in Massachusetts
March 11, 2010: Now lacking the 60th vote needed to pass the bill, Senate Democrats decide to use budget reconciliation in order to get to one bill approved by the House and the Senate. The use of budget reconciliation only requires 51 Senators to vote in favor of the bill in order for it to go to the president’s desk for signature.
March 21, 2010: The Senate’s version of the health-care plan is approved by the House in a 219-212 vote. All Republicans and 34 Democrats vote against the plan.
March 23, 2010: President Obama signs the Affordable Care Act into law.

It's so easy to forget how we got the ACA . . . And complaining? No where did Sanders complain - he said he would pass Medicare For All WITH 51 Democrats . . . how in hell is that complaining? Oh right - it's Senator Bernie Sanders who proposes something!

insurance company employees out of work. It won't happen. It would be ridiculous and we would be out of office in two years then the GOP comes in and gets rid of all insurance-the ACA and Medicare for all. But I am not worried because Sanders won't win a primary and will not be our nominee anyway...IMHO, this seals his fate...losing the primary. I do worry that Roberts will rule against the ACA in part because of Sen. Sander's actions - thinking that if we don't support it why should he rule for it...which would literally kill people.

The “Democrats” in the House and Senate are only able to pass a bill that reinforces the ACA or expands it? Or, if the Democratic Party majority congress only gets single payer passed? OR, if the Democratic Party majority only manages to get a government option passed?

See, this is one of sooo many issues that I have with Senator BS. I have no confidence in him at all, given his history of purity tests and requirements, that he will actually sign a bill that doesn’t “measure up” to his standard.

I don’t have the same reservations about any of our other candidates. For the rest, I’m totally confident that they will pass ANY Democratic Party bill that successfully gets through all the hurdles of Congress. BS? Given his history of requiring purity to get onboard, I don’t have ANY confidence in.
