I agree with a poster that the "newness" blush is off Bernie. People are now focused on his policy proposals and issues that his campaign had in 2016 and the tax return thing that he has turned into a fiasco.

Young people are the foot soldiers of pedal to the metal campaigning. Coming fifth or sixth amongst 18-34 yo is bad news.

Joe garnered 33% of 55-64 yos. How many of them would be knocking on doors, Manning the phones and driving around to GOVT.

Make no mistake, IMO VP Biden should win the Presidency if nominated, but Democrats need the Senate to sideline McConnell.

The one thing in his favor is such a large field waters the total electorate in the primary down a LOT, and he has a very established and solid "base" that very well could carry him through the primary. So, he is absolutely one of the top handful of candidates and as the polling shows, second in line to Biden at this moment.

BUT, he had a lot working his favor in 2016 that does not translate with completely different dynamics this go round.

He was really the only other option to Hillary, and had the entire harder left leaning parts of the party all to his own. He is a very tactful politician, and had absolutely no problem riding the "enemy of my enemy wave" against Hillary, and not only is that dynamic not in play this go round, people are more tuned into his murkier self, and this go round our side is going to more oriented toward the candidates who appear to rise about the murkier aspects of politics.
