Democratic Primaries
Related: About this forumWhy is Tulsi Gabbard still in the race?
About all I know about her is that she's a female from Hawaii.
Why hasn't she dropped out? I don't get it. Can anyone explain?

Have Russian hackers siphon off 7% of Bidens vote to her in key states and the Dictator wins those states and walks into an electoral college win. Media comments: " Gabard really drew votes away from Biden and Trump both!"

(3,402 posts)The Dems she appeals to are mostly the far left, who probably wouldnt vote for Joe anyhow. I think she might draw more votes from Trump and from Jill Stein than she would from Biden. She was a better independent candidate when it looked like Bernie would get the nomination.

(45,534 posts)She dropped out of her congressional district reelection because it was unlikely she could even win that primary.
By all measures, she's an unconventional candidate leaving a lot of experts baffled about her agenda

(11,370 posts)I make no judgement about the candidates character or positions on the issues. But there is no plausible path to her nomination. And she doesn't wield enough clout or support to influence the platform or direction of the party. Ergo .. not about the party or the election.
In fairness .. the most generous explanation is that the candidate legitimately thinks there is a "message" of value .. and there is still some small audience it might reach and influence.

(31,261 posts)Remember Jim DeMint from South Carolina? He was one of the poorest people in the Senate. He gave up his Senate seat to work for a Think Tank making $1 million plus to start, he has been there around 6-7 years.
Gabbard could be making a play for speaking gigs, a Think Tank job, a job as a lobbyist. The last two would allow her to make massive money. Of course, she can sign on at Fox for over a million per year minimum.
My guess. She doesn't run third party unless she has guaranteed big money from Moscow. If she doesn't have the Russian money, she seriously damages her financial future with a third party run, imagine Ralph Nader, without already being rich.
