New Poll: Sanders leads pack, followed by Biden and Buttigieg

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) leads the Democratic presidential field in a new Emerson poll, followed by former Vice President Joe Biden and South Bend, Ind., Mayor Pete Buttigieg.

The survey found that Sanders, who has come in second behind Biden in most polling, is leading with 29 percent. Biden, who has not yet announced a 2020 bid, is in second place with 24 percent, followed by Buttigieg at 9 percent.

Sen. Kamala Harris (D-Calif.) and former Rep. Beto O’Rourke (D-Texas) are tied for fourth place at 8 percent, followed by Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) at 7 percent.

The poll is one of several showing the meteoric rise on Buttigieg, despite his relatively low name recognition just a few months ago. An Iowa poll last week had him in third place, behind Biden and Sanders, respectively.

“While still early in the nominating process, it looks like Mayor Pete is the candidate capturing voters’ imagination,” Spencer Kimball, director of Emerson Polling, said in a statement Monday.

Biden running with a progressive Dem woman (Harris?) can beat trump. trump doesn't want to run against Biden. trump needs Pennsylvania to win. Biden can win Pennsylvania because its his home state. Winning is all that matters. Far left won't do it. The country is not far left.

10. And as for the nomination, it's a matter of who wins the most states and/or delegates.

There are going to be roughly 50-60 million voters in our primaries, about 900 people, more than half of whom are republicans or unaffiliated, are irrelevant in April 2019.

4. Sanders/Biden/Buttigieg/O'Rourke - 70%. I doubt four white men are taking 70% of a Dem primary.

And, yes, I'll blame the candidate himself for not doing enough to get his name out there.

He has a very progressive, impressive record.

delegates to get nominated. By winning enough delegates to get nominated. The type of delegate doesn't matter.
