or has he finally released the 10 years of tax returns he promised BEFORE today?
Also, why is 2019 the 10th year? The tenth year of what? The tenth year since something he didn't want to release? Otherwise, why couldn't 2018 have been the 10th year? Or 2017? Or 2016? All of them would have been excellent years for releasing ten years of tax returns. The mystery deepens.

WASHINGTON Senator Bernie Sanders, whose $18 million fund-raising haul has solidified his status as a front-runner for the Democratic presidential nomination, said Tuesday that he would release 10 years of tax returns by Tax Day on Monday and acknowledged that he has joined the ranks of the millionaires he has denounced for years.
April 15 is coming, Mr. Sanders, whose refusal to release his full past returns has become an issue in the campaign, said in an interview in his office. We wanted to release 10 years of tax returns. April 15, 2019, will be the 10th year, so I think you will see them.
Told that he was being compared to President Trump, who has refused to release his tax returns, Mr. Sanders got more specific: On the day in the very immediate future, certainly before April 15, we release ours, I hope that Donald Trump will do exactly the same. We are going to release 10 years of our tax returns, and we hope that on that day Donald Trump will do the same.
ON EDIT:
HE HAS FINALLY RELEASED THEM:

(24,122 posts)Just relax... Bernie will release his boring tax returns when he releases his tax returns, whether it's today, tomorrow, or the next day. And, then, all will be right with the world again. Then, people can go on bashing Bernie for some other inane reason.

(108,978 posts)And after asking for two extensions on his 2016 FEC filings, he never filed them at all, arguing that he didn't have to because he wasn't running anymore.
So you should understand why people are skeptical.

(4,035 posts)There's absolutely no reason to think his and Ms. Sanders' tax returns for that year are any shorter than Senator Klobuchar's of the same year. Hers was 68 pages, so the 7 pages he begrudgingly published after being shamed for only releasing two pages initially are very unlikely the whole 2014 tax return.

(26,330 posts)Tax returns are not 68 pages unless you include a bunch of nonsense work sheets and cover pages from your accountant.

(1,532 posts)Summaries of returns are being prepared to obfuscate the actual data into neat palatable tables.
Those summaries will be released "soon" and will be touted as Sanders releasing his full, undoctored returnsand we'll hear "look! he DID release his returns."

I hope that's not it, and that he's rather waiting until he's on Fox News this evening, so that he can use his release to hit back at Trump as effectively as Senators Klobuchar and Harris have already done on this issue.

(3,259 posts)Im sure that very few people have. I dont think I put emphasis on negative or positive. Just that Sanders wont give them time to analyze them before hand. He is a savvy career politician. He will get to say he has released them and then be able to control or respond to the contents tomorrow.

(108,978 posts)when a lot of press attention was going to Trump?
Why didn't he release multiple years in 2016, as he promised? Why was it like pulling teeth to get even that single 2104 return out of him (and at first, only 2 pages.)

(59,503 posts)I think he should have released more than just 2014 in 2016. However, if he is releasing 10 years ending in 2018, the first one would be 2009. If he does release all of them today, the only questions should be what is in them.
It is silly to speculate that he chose 10 years ending with 2018 because there was a problem before that. (It would include the period after 2012 when Jane Sanders left Burlington College)

(59,503 posts)He obviously would have meant the taxes FILED in 2019. 2019 taxes cannot possibly be released now - as the year is not even finished. By the way, CNN has a link that he released them - so your thread is obsolete.

(108,978 posts)Also, it doesn't address my point.
Why did he arbitrarily decide that the 10 year period had to be from 2008 - 2018 -- and not 2007 - 2017?
He could have released 10 years at any point from when he first started running in 2015, but didn't, for some reason.
