It's past 5 pm, EDT. Is Bernie still a little bit busy

Last edited Mon Apr 15, 2019, 06:26 PM - Edit history (2)

or has he finally released the 10 years of tax returns he promised BEFORE today?

Also, why is 2019 the 10th year? The tenth year of what? The tenth year since something he didn't want to release? Otherwise, why couldn't 2018 have been the 10th year? Or 2017? Or 2016? All of them would have been excellent years for releasing ten years of tax returns. The mystery deepens.

https://www.nytimes.com/2019/04/09/us/politics/bernie-sanders-millionaire-net-worth-taxes.html

WASHINGTON — Senator Bernie Sanders, whose $18 million fund-raising haul has solidified his status as a front-runner for the Democratic presidential nomination, said Tuesday that he would release 10 years of tax returns by Tax Day on Monday and acknowledged that he has joined the ranks of the millionaires he has denounced for years.

“April 15 is coming,” Mr. Sanders, whose refusal to release his full past returns has become an issue in the campaign, said in an interview in his office. “We wanted to release 10 years of tax returns. April 15, 2019, will be the 10th year, so I think you will see them.”

Told that he was being compared to President Trump, who has refused to release his tax returns, Mr. Sanders got more specific: “On the day in the very immediate future, certainly before April 15, we release ours, I hope that Donald Trump will do exactly the same. We are going to release 10 years of our tax returns, and we hope that on that day Donald Trump will do the same.”

ON EDIT:

HE HAS FINALLY RELEASED THEM:

There's absolutely no reason to think his and Ms. Sanders' tax returns for that year are any shorter than Senator Klobuchar's of the same year. Hers was 68 pages, so the 7 pages he begrudgingly published after being shamed for only releasing two pages initially are very unlikely the whole 2014 tax return.

I think he should have released more than just 2014 in 2016. However, if he is releasing 10 years ending in 2018, the first one would be 2009. If he does release all of them today, the only questions should be what is in them.

It is silly to speculate that he chose 10 years ending with 2018 because there was a problem before that. (It would include the period after 2012 when Jane Sanders left Burlington College)

Also, it doesn't address my point.

Why did he arbitrarily decide that the 10 year period had to be from 2008 - 2018 -- and not 2007 - 2017?

He could have released 10 years at any point from when he first started running in 2015, but didn't, for some reason.
