Will Sanders release his tax returns this time?

In 2016 it took until April - when it was due - and even then it was only the front page 1040 without any attachments.

Hillary, of course, and Obama before her, and Biden always released several years of tax return.

Oh, and Trump, of course, never did.

Will be interesting how Sanders behaves this time.

BURLINGTON, Vt. —

Sen. Bernie Sanders' wife, Jane O'Meara Sanders, will face no criminal charges related to a controversial land deal at Burlington College.

Vermont's U.S. Attorney, Christina Nolan has informed Sanders the investigation into alleged wrongdoing has concluded and no charges will be filed, a Sanders spokesman said Tuesday.

I can compare them to Trump and easily vote for the more honorable candidate. There is no comparison, really... I never expected Bernie and Hillary to be perfect. Why hold just Bernie Sanders to that standard?

That's my question

I'm not entirely interested in the tax returns as much as I am interested in his policy proposals which are much more attractive and more on the issues.

Just to let you know, there are several reasons why I won't be voting for Kamala Harris, and none of them has anything to do with her issues at hand, it's just the way she is handling her campaign. Incorrectly. Her own father has to rebuke her for mischaracterization of his Jamaican heritage and identity politics.

Identity politics does not belong in an American democracy, ever.

To the best of my knowledge, none of these candidates has ever refused, or promised and not delivered, or delayed, or made lame excuses for not releasing their FULL tax returns.

I'm not entirely interested in the tax returns as much as I am interested in his policy proposals which are much more attractive and more on the issues.
Everyone should be interested in WHERE a candidates money comes from, and WHERE/HOW it's being invested, and WHERE those assets are being kept. These things reveal a lot about a candidate's priorities and how they're likely to govern.

Identity politics does not belong in an American democracy, ever.

Oh and..

Dolores Huerta Endorses Kamala Harris

“I have spent my career advocating for workers’ rights, immigrants’ rights, women’s rights, and on behalf of the LBGTQ community because I believe our country is only as great as the opportunities we afford all our communities,” Huerta said. “Senator Kamala Harris is the right leader to expand those opportunities as president, and I am proud to endorse her.”

Huerta also praised Harris, whom she’s supported in the past, for fighting on behalf of and giving a voice to the vulnerable — and singled out her work on criminal justice reform and for immigrants, ranging “from creating innovative programs to help first-time offenders get education and job training to avoid recidivism, to demanding that California and our country protect immigrant communities and afford them the opportunity to fully contribute to the country they love.”

For Harris, who since ascending to the Senate in 2016 has prioritized shielding immigrants — and specifically the Dreamers — from deportation, Huerta is an important validator, and not only in her home state of California — Huerta comes from a Mexican immigrant family and was raised in Stockton — but also neighboring Nevada, which stands to provide its winner a boost of momentum heading into Super Tuesday.

Huerta, a past recipient of the Presidential Medal of Freedom and the Eleanor Roosevelt Award for Human Rights, has been active in California politics for decades. She was on stage with Robert Kennedy at the Ambassador Hotel in Los Angeles the night he won the primary and was later assassinated.

I mean we are fighting right now to get Trump’s taxes in the name of transparency and he plays these stupid ass games. If you got nothing to hide, put your cards on the table. It’s like waiting for something to fall off your credit report.

"When?" he was asked.
"Soon," he said.

"Before the Iowa caucus?" he was asked.
"Sooner rather than later," he said.

So, who knows when he'll release them. Maybe, if he doesn't do all that well in the caucuses and primaries, never.

Personally, I doubt there's anything there, which makes his decision to stall on the issue perplexing.

It's also a poor choice, strategically. It opens the left up to charges of hypocrisy by the right when we demand that Trump's taxes be released. We see how that's a false comparison, but a lot of voters may not.

He is a millionaire, as we've glimpsed from his one page 2016 release. And why not? Many who have held a steady job for over 30 years, with above average salary, with no major medical or financial setbaxks is now a millionaire. And, I suspect, he is several times over.

So take your lumps and come clean.

The more time that goes by, the less credible the eventual release will be.

I hope there isn't a devious plot to release newly prepared fake returns -- since no one can really verify if they are authentic except the IRS and IRS is barred from releasing them or commenting.

I hope Bernie has enough sense to not do something like fooling the American people.

74. Washington State is adopting a ballot access law

This is great news https://thehill.com/homenews/state-watch/434412-washington-senate-passes-bill-that-would-keep-trump-off-2020-ballot

Washington's state Senate passed a bill this week that would drop President Trump from the state's 2020 presidential ballot until he releases his tax returns.

The bill, which advanced Tuesday to the state's House of Representatives, according to CBS News, would require any candidate on the ballot for president in the state to release five years of tax returns before appearing in a general or primary election.

Senators voted by a 28-21 margin to approve the bill, according to CBS. The state's attorney general and solicitor told lawmakers in a letter this week that the proposal likely was constitutional, but analysts expect the law if passed to be challenged in federal court.

"The disclosure requirement you propose is likely Constitutional," the two wrote to lawmakers, according to CBS, adding that the measure "would definitely be challenged in court."

Trump has long insisted that he won’t release his returns because they are under audit, though that would not preclude him from doing so. The documents have become something of a liberal white whale, and Democrats at the federal level have been pursuing laws or legal maneuvers aimed at obtaining them.

In addition to Washington, several other states, including California, Hawaii and New Jersey are considering similar bills. Many, though not all, of the legislatures considering the bills are controlled by Democrats, but even in Republican-controlled states, Democrats have put forth such legislation. Measures failed earlier this year in Mississippi, New Mexico and New Hampshire.

Champion of the 99%, hero at railing against the 1%, giant for advocating for the poor, progressive extraordinaire, and icon of the oppressed, cannot be bothered with such trivial things as tax returns.
Is he embarrassed that he doesn't have an income, or is it something more sinister? It seems common amongst the fanatic supporters that Senator Sanders Independent-VT is just an average wage earner like them. Release the returns and be vindicated, or come clean and admit you're just another politician.

However, once we are told they will be made public, it is about integrity and follow-through.

Beyond that, once there is high-risk behavior shown (parsing words, delays, avoidance), it sets off alarm bells that extend deeper than issues of character.
