of going to prison, said political party; sad as it is, ought to at least have the opportunity to change course before the convention that locks it all in.

Their jumbotrons should all be tuned in to the event and news coverage, it will be very convenient for tens of millions of people to watch all at once.

Thanks for the thread Rhiannon

3. What sense does it make for the Republicans to nominate an indicted criminal??

And, as you said, who is facing numerous criminal trials which could easily send him to prison! How is this happening in the United States and not some third world country which is fighting for democracy? Turns out, after almost 250 years, that's what we're fighting for now, too.

5. They don't see the indictments as legitimate.

I think it really is that simple. By extension, I think they also believe he's going to be exonerated, however unlikely that appears to be.

It is pretty remarkable that it's gone this far. Not all that long ago, many thought that W was the bottom of the barrel, and outside of the Iraq debacle, he looks almost quaint by comparison now.

6. Yes, I was here on DU and felt sick over the 2004 election after all we'd seen. But it was nothing like this

I've been here almost since the beginning, though I had a different account then. I thought that nothing could ever make me feel like 2000, but 2004 was close, and then 2016 just blew it out of the water.

2020 was a relief, though only to a certain degree, because there's still so much to do. We need a repeat of that in November.

8. The one that got to me the most was 2016, I was optimistic since my polling place was really busy

And I couldn't wait for the election to be over so we'd never have to see or hear from this offensive blowhard again - who could take this jerk seriously?? I had dental surgery that day, voted on my way home with my face still half numb. I fell asleep on the couch watching the returns and woke up at about 3am to see this creep on the TV with his entire extended family. I thought I must be having a bad dream - still do.

4. I don't think they'd turn on him, even if he's convicted.

At this point, I think it's do or die with the monster they created, especially if they let him take over the RNC.
