Trump Lies Again re conversation with Blackstone Group Founder-Spokesperson: "No such chat occurred"
President Donald Trump is on tape saying he had a conversation with Blackstone Group Inc. founder Steve Schwarzman about former Vice President Joe Biden’s son. On Friday, Schwarzman’s spokeswoman disputed that account.

“I was with the head of Blackstone, which is the big deal,” the president said, before quoting their conversation. “Steve, is that possible?” Trump recalled asking, noting that Schwarzman eventually demurred by saying, “Maybe I shouldn’t get involved, you know it’s very political.”
Jennifer Friedman, a spokeswoman for Schwarzman, denied that any such chat occurred: “Steve never spoke to the president about Joe Biden or his family, nor has he had any conversations with the Chinese about Biden or his family,” she said in a statement to Bloomberg after the Washington Post reported the response.
“Steve was never asked by anyone, and has never had, conversations with the Chinese about Joe Biden or his family,” she added.

Whatever is on the Secret Server must be one doozy of a national security threat. Through his spokesman, Vladimir Putin is saying, don't release these conversations or...I will first. And, if that happens, more than simply this president* may go down.

It is possible that Russian influence-peddling has infected both the entire Republican Party and many of the more prominent conservative interest groups allied with it. (Money in politics is now a matter of national security.) As somebody, and I don't remember who now, said on television this morning, without Ukraine, Russia is just Russia. With Ukraine, Russia is the Soviet Union. If the President* of the United States is involved in any way in that, the roof caves in.
There's no telling what information is contained in the Secret Server and elsewhere in a White House that has been reconfigured to resemble a conspiracy to obstruct justice. This, I promise you, is just getting started.

President Donald J. Trump will be impeached. Maybe not convicted by the Senate, but impeached by the House. That’s my prediction, given the rapidly unfolding events in Ukrainegate. The catalyst for impeachment is the alleged CIA whistleblower and the team of intelligence community officials he is going to bat for. Trump picked a fight with the wrong crowd. Now, they’re fighting back, with the Constitution in one hand, and evidence of Trump’s corruption in the other. Game on.
You might call this team, collectively, “Deep State Throat.” They’re a Deep State, alright, but not like Trump thinks. They’re not rogues. They’re patriots. Let’s just buckle up and watch how this plays out over the coming weeks and months.

I have never seen a more buttoned-up set of whistleblower allegations than these.
To me, the whistleblower appears to have taken a leadership role, sticking his neck out to protect subordinates in the intelligence community while conveying their information to appropriate authorities through appropriate channels. It’s easy to see how the ICIG steered it to the Congressional Intelligence Committees, under the cover of great credibility, through a gauntlet of resisters.

I view this whistleblower group as of the same ilk. Trump would refer to them as Deep Staters who ratted him out. I would call them national treasures who pulled down his knickers for, literally, all the world to see.

Pence tried to keep the memo hidden
Vice President Pence urged President Trump not to release a memo detailing his call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky this week amid a scandal over Trump's efforts to persuade the Ukrainian leader to direct an investigation into former Vice President Joe Biden.
The Wall Street Journal reported Friday that Pence fell in line and ultimately supported the report's public release, but privately counseled Trump against the matter when it was first raised. The White House eventually released the rough transcript, according to the Journal, because Trump felt that Republicans were losing the messaging battle in the press.
Pence argued Thursday that the readout of Trump's call with Zelensky "completely vindicated" the president, whose allies have argued that Trump never sought to tie an investigation into Biden to a concrete promise of U.S. aid during his conversations with Ukrainian officials.

The aide added: “Our voters want two things from their congressmen: pissing on the media and blindly defending the president. That’s what being a Republican has come to.”

House Intel hires former Russian mob prosecutor to lead Trump probes
The House Intelligence Committee has hired a seasoned former Southern District of New York federal prosecutor with experience going after Russian organized crime to lead its myriad investigations into President Donald Trump.
Chairman Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) announced on Tuesday that Daniel Goldman joined the committee last month as senior adviser and director of investigations. Goldman, who was second-in-command at SDNY’s organized crime unit, has prosecuted the Russian mob and has secured convictions for racketeering, murder and money laundering, including against the Genovese crime family.

Republican Congressman Mark Amodei of Nevada announces support for impeachment of Donald Trump

“Let’s put it through the process and see what happens,” Amodei, the only Republican in the state’s congressional delegation, said on a call Friday with reporters, adding that he believes Congress is justified to look into the matter.
“I’m a big fan of oversight, so let’s let the committees get to work and see where it goes,” he added. (An audio recording of the call has been posted below.)
“Using government agencies to, if it’s proven, to put your finger on the scale of an election, I don’t think that’s right,” he continued. “If it turns out that it’s something along those lines, then there’s a problem.”
