(I got out of high school in '65) I remember when gas would go up a penny or two and folks reacted like it was the end of the world.
I think the drive-in theater was 50-cents a head. So, date night including gas, movie and a burger and drink for two was 5-bucks max.

A lot of 'em also pump it full of air bubbles ... so the volume is what it should be but the mass ..
