There is absolutely nothing to be gained for Dems to vote for a Republican Speaker. They won't receive any committee chairs or majorities. They won't receive votes on any legislation they want to pass. They will receive nothing in exchange for their votes. An ineffectual Republican Speaker who needs Dem votes to pass budget bills and keep the government running is far better than a MAGAT Speaker but that's about it. It's still not enough for Dems to vote for a Repub unless that MAGAT could win. Dems should find or persuade 6 Republicans to back Jeffries. Otherwise, they should simply watch things play out and maybe block someone like Jordan or Gaetz from becoming Speaker.
