(5,364 posts)65. There are times when a non-political head of state is not a bad thing..
Meaning: In the USA, the President is both head of government *and* head of state. From January 6th to January 20th, 2001 we essentially had no head of state; Trump had abandoned any pretense of leadership. Almost exactly 40 years earlier Spain's head of state, King Juan Carlos, headed off an attempted coup and saved their democracy.
