As things are shaking out, Trump is likely getting his wish that none of the federal cases go to trial until after the election. If Trump were then elected, he'd just fill the DoJ with lackeys who would drop all the outstanding cases, and he's then free and clear.
I suppose there's an off chance that Trump could be convicted in the interval between the election and (hopefully this is never more than hypothetical!) assuming the Presidency again, but he'd appeal any convictions, obviously, and if the DoJ says it doesn't want to pursue those appeals, you get the same end result of an effective pardon.
