(29,689 posts)and am on the phone all night. The last two nights I have not been able to work due to the large amount of fireworks going off at all hours of the night. No matter how good my headset is it won't drown out the sound of my windows shaking and rattling because my neighbor shot off a firework in the street right in front of my house at 2 in the morning.
I've lost two days of pay because of this. We have a lovely-and free-show the city puts on every year. I donate to it every year so I know all about it. They run it as a festival all day long until it's time for the fireworks. From 6-9 they offer hot dogs, soda, popcorn, chips, shaved ice, cotton candy, kids games with prizes, contests, drawings, entertainment and music-all free to the public. The local pool offers free swimming today with free snacks from 12-6. Fireworks are at 9.
There is so much to do around here, for free, that there is no reason for some redneck to stick a Roman candle in his kid's hand, light it and then tell the kid to aim it at cars or trees or whatever they think is funny.
