ever to parasitize our body politic, like a big fat leech.
For you young'uns who don't remember the '90s: Newt, like Trump, has been married three times, with the first two marriages ending in divorce after he had affairs with other women. Newt, if you'll recall, dumped his first wife, Jackie, while she was in the hospital being treated for cancer. Supposedly he said of her: "She's not young enough or pretty enough to be the wife of the President. And besides, she has cancer." While he was married to the second wife, Marianne (whom he married six months after dumping Jackie), he had an affair with a House staffer, whom he married four months after dumping Marianne.
Back in the 90s Newt engineered a shutdown of the government, claiming he was snubbed by having to use the rear exit of Air Force One (although there is videotape showing him and Bob Dole leaving the plane by the front door just behind Clinton).
While Newt was Speaker of the House, the House reprimanded him for claiming tax-exempt status for a college course he ran for political purposes, and ordered to reimburse the House $300,000 for some of the costs of the investigation. Later, after the GOP lost seats in the House, he resigned under pressure from members of his party.
Newt is cut from the same cloth as Trump; he's just not quite as flamboyant. He lies as easily as he breathes and he has no ethics or decency. Of course he says outrageous things in Trump's defense; they are absolutely birds of a feather.
