The irony of low/ no tax people! Colorado fires [View all]

I "know" somebody caught in it...he is quite tea bagish and was going over evil lib'ruls and taxes

When this started he started on how we need to pray for the fire fighters. His brother pointed out tat fire crews don't need prayers, but gear and pay, aka taxes. Not even in the middle of this could he make that connection.

I live in San Diego, the cedar fires were five or so years ago, people in Rancho Bernardo, a bastion of well to do, but low tax folks was very affected... A year after that an innitiative came to raise property taxes by a quarter of a percent to fund those same fire fighters that saved many a home. Rancho Bernardo residents and activists led the fight to defeat that horrific tax raise. They were followed by back country communities that were also very affected and screaming at inset city council here, where were the fire fighters?

It comes a point that you gotta wonder.

Wanna bet Colorado springs will vote down a tax to fund fire? Mostly people have completely lost that connection.

Oh and cedar caused a few deaths too, and was the most damaging fire in San Diego history.

But this is the irony and why people speak of Karma, or whatever, when folks who are low tax fans get caught in it.

For the record, the fires in Colorado, or the Cedar Fire, were firestorms...you can really stop them in the real beggining, after that, you are fighting a rear guard until the weather cooperates. That is when having the resources helps...
