exactly what the charges are? What law did he evade? And why is he being charged when he promptly paid the tax, as soon as he found out? And the GOP still charged him, after the fact.The IRS did not charge him, and that is the tell.

As best as I can figure out, the issue revolved around US tax laws on international income. IOW, it';s a bit murky, if you earn money as a US citizen, from a foreign company or source, and the income goes into a foreign bank, because that is how that business does it. But it's different if you receive money for a US company that has an overseas branch. So it looks like his tax accountant read the law one way, but the IRS read it (right or wrong) another way. I THINK it was "is income received from an out of the US company, earned out of the US, and deposited into an out of the US ban while the person is living overseas, taxable under US law?"
