In reply to the discussion: Rapper Kenny Clutch killed in Las Vegas shooting [View all]kiva
(4,373 posts)7. Years ago when I moved to Vegas,
one of my neighbors, probably in her 70s, who had lived in the city for decades was the first person I heard say what I call the Vegas Mantra: "Things were better when the mob ran the city."
A couple of years later I watched a documentary about Las Vegas and Debbie Reynolds - sweet, butter-wouldn't-melt-in-her-mouth Debbie Reynolds - said "When the mob ran things nobody got killed that wasn't supposed to be killed."
This morning, hearing about the taxi driver and passenger who were collateral damage in this rolling shootout, I started to believe the Mantra.
*note - I'm not saying that that Clutch deserved to/should have died, but I know damn well that taxi driver and passenger had nothing to do with whatever feud was happening

No, and I can't imagine Jay-Z or Method Man or Rakim or Kendrick Lamar or KRS-1 committing one

Somehow I doubt the NRA will claim this could've been prevented by arming all rappers

When I heard about the crash, I said it was probably a rapper; I was thinking back on this news:

The temptation at this stage will be to blame the *real* victim here: the precious gun.
