You should at least wonder why.

If someone runs for office, it's fair to ask them to make disclosures. If they refuse, they have to expect people to wonder why they are refusing.

No one said they were equivalent to tax returns and that's not the point.

Paying someone to give a speech doesn't create an employer employee relationship, but I don't know what difference it makes anyway.
