'I didn't believe it': Reaction to discovery of woman living in Midland store sign [View all]

MIDLAND, Mich. (WJRT) - People in Midland who frequent the Northwest Plaza are surprised and curious about how a woman was living inside the Family Fare sign.

The discovery was made in late April as contractors were doing work on the roof of the Family Fare store in Midland.

It was all there, inside the Family Fare's peaked sign. The woman had what she needed to live, including a computer, printer, coffee maker and even a houseplant. There is an outlet on the roof so she could plug in for electricity.

The Midland Police Department says the woman was cooperative and agreed to leave when she was found living in the sign on April 23.
