Trump inaugural committee having a hard time finding people to perform at swearing in ceremony

Celebrities are part of the fun of the traditionally monotonous Washington, DC inauguration ceremonies. For a town that runs on policy and politics, a Beyoncé or Lady Gaga sighting can make standing in the cold for hours that much more exciting.

The inaugural committee for President-Elect Donald Trump is having a hard time finding someone willing to perform, however, the UK Independent reported.

Trump transition team member Anthony Scaramucci said in an interview with the BBC that in an effort to show Trump supports LGBT people, Elton John would play. John said he wouldn’t.

“I’m not a Republican in a million years,” John said when Trump used his song “Tiny Dancer” for a campaign rally, “why not ask Ted f*cking Nugent?”

Vince Neil, vocalist for heavy metal band Mötley Crüe also dropped out of Trump’s inaugural, after previously being announced he would play. The Rolling Stones also refused. Trump frequently used The Stone’s song “You Can’t Always Get What You Want,” despite repeated requests for him to stop.

Draft Washington Post Column Claimed Trump Said He Was Sexually Attracted To His Teenage Daughter

Washington Post columnist Richard Cohen wrote that President-elect Donald Trump once asked, “Is it wrong to be more sexually attracted to your own daughter than your wife?” — but the quote was quietly removed before the syndicated column was published Tuesday.

Trump was reportedly referring to his daughter, Ivanka, who was 13 years old at the time.

The quote was circulated Monday in a draft of Cohen’s piece “Our Next President, The Godfather” that was sent to outlets that syndicate the column, a source told BuzzFeed News. The quote did not appear in the later, final version of the piece carried by the Post and other outlets.

Cohen’s column details the president-elect’s increasingly blurred familial and political ties as he prepares to enter the White House.
The reporting appeared in an advance version of the column that was circulated on Monday for publication on Tuesday and thereafter. It appeared as an aside after the introduction of Jared Kushner, which still appears in the final column:

Jared Kushner, our Tom Hagen, who married Trump’s stunning daughter Ivanka — “Can I ask you something?” Trump asked someone I know, about his then-13-year-old kid, “Is it wrong to be more sexually attracted to your own daughter than your wife?” — has lately lost some of this Boy Scout aura. It turns out Kushner’s admission to Harvard was preceded by his father’s $2.5 million pledge.

Conway joins attacks on Romney

It has been a tough couple of days for Mitt Romney.

After the former Massachusetts governor and 2012 GOP nominee met with President-elect Donald Trump, it was rumored — and then stated explicitly by Vice President-elect Mike Pence — that Romney was being considered for Secretary of State.

And it’s been all downhill from there, as Trump supporters and surrogates have piled on, slamming Romney for his attacks on Trump during the GOP primary and his refusal to endorse Trump.

Now Kellyanne Conway, a senior transition adviser and Trump’s campaign manager, has joined the fray.

“Receiving deluge of social media & private comms re: Romney Some Trump loyalists warn against Romney as sec of state,” Conway posted on Twitter Thursday, linking to a POLITICO article about the attacks on Romney.

“Kissinger & Schultz [sic] as Secs of State flew around the world less, counseled POTUS close to home more. And were loyal. Good checklist,” she added later, referring to former secretaries of state Henry Kissinger and George Shultz.

Thanksgiving Greetings from the RandySF household.

This year may be ending on the worst note possible with the election, but there were still blessing to be celebrated. We are healthy and employed. I just accepted a transfer that will take me from the East Bay to Sf that will also allow us to get ahead. My son is doing well in school and pursuing his love of basketball.

We are taking it easy today as we celebrated the holiday in a Downtown restaurant for which I saved some pennies over the past few months. And so far today I've been chilling and trading comic books before heading off to watch Doctor Strange. Best of all, my right wing relatives are back in Michigan and I don't have to listen to them crow about what Trump will do to California.

Anyway, I want to wish everyone an enjoyable holiday and blessings through the rest of 2016 and into 2017. I'm glad we al have each other to get through the nest four years.

What happens when the jobs don't come back?

What happens four years from now when the factories and mills don't return to Michigan and Pennsylvania? Who will Trump blame when natural gas continues to undercut coal as an energy source? If you think people are angry now, Where will they turn when Trump fails to reverse trends that are out of his control?

I will run against Tulsi Gabbard, myself if I have to.

On its face, Monday's summit at Trump Towers between President-elect Donald Trump and Hawaii Democratic Rep. Tulsi Gabbard makes little sense.

Hawaii was Donald Trump's single worst state (he got only 29 percent of the vote) and it's by far the country's most racially diverse, with whites making up about only one-quarter of the population.

But in a statement after the meeting, Gabbard, who has often challenged President Barack Obama on national security, said she held a "frank and positive" conversation with the President-elect, discussing Syria and other foreign policy issues.

Gabbard, a member of the House Armed Services Committee, also said she and Trump discussed legislation that she is pushing that would end what she described as "our country's illegal war to overthrow the Syrian government."

Trump asked for the meeting, Gabbard said, to discuss Syria, the fight to defeat the ISIS and al Qaeda, and other foreign policy issues. Aides to the president-elect said Trump wants to hear viewpoints from across the political spectrum.

A small blessing in dark days: I got a new job.

I was already planning to take Election Day off when I got the call to go in for a promotional interview with my employer (at a different facility) on the exact same date and decided to go in as an opportunity to keep myself busy and mind distracted while the country voted. Yesterday, I receive a verbal offer for for the position at more than I dared hope for. So, unless Trump tanks the economy (and I know he might), my family will be able to catch its breath and actually get ahead. The funny thing ism there are an awful lot of openings where I'm going to work for such a "terrible" economy.
