Trump canceled his trip to Nevada, but he's still going to Texas and Mississippi.

Donald Trump might be moderating his rhetoric, but he hasn’t adjusted a campaign strategy that has him spending valuable time in states that will not prove decisive on Election Day.

With fewer than 80 days to go and lagging in the polls, the Republican nominee will host a rally Tuesday in Austin, Texas, and another on Wednesday in Jackson, Mississippi. Both cities sit inside strongly Republican states that are safe and uncompetitive.

These visits follow a recent trip by Trump into heavily Democratic Connecticut, a choice that enraged and confused Republicans.

“I have never known a general election campaign in my adult life, a Republican campaign, to spend time in Mississippi outside of raising money,” said Austin Barbour, a Mississippi-based Republican operative. “Donald Trump’s going to win Mississippi by at least double digits.”

Silk Rumored For Spider-Man: Homecoming Played By Tiffany Espensen

While everybody is going bonkers over the potential casting of Zendaya in Spider-Man: Homecoming, a new rumor/speculation points to Silk being in the film.

According to a casting call sheet, 17-year-old Tiffany Espensen is playing a character named Cindy in Spider-Man: Homecoming.

Silk in the Marvel Comics is named Cindy Moon.

The character was retconned into existence a couple of years ago by Dan Slott when it was said the same radioactive spider that gave Peter Parker his powers also bit a second person, Cindy Moon.

Silk has similar powers to Spider-Man but a greater Spider Sense (Silk Sense) and can shoot webs out of her fingertips.

Kirk likens Obama to 'drug dealer in chief' for $400 million Iran payment

Republican U.S. Sen. Mark Kirk, who has made opposition to a U.S.-led nuclear agreement with Iran a major theme of his re-election campaign, likened home-state President Barack Obama to "drug dealer in chief" over a $400 million payment linked to the release of American prisoners.

Kirk's controversial rhetoric has been an issue as the first-term senator is viewed as perhaps the most vulnerable Republican incumbent nationally this fall. He is being challenged by two-term Democratic U.S. Rep. Tammy Duckworth of Hoffman Estates.

The latest eyebrow-raising comment came as he spoke last week to a Downstate newspaper. Kirk echoed GOP criticism that the U.S. cash payment of $400 million to Iran was a ransom for the release of American prisoners held by the country.

The money was part of a previously announced settlement in a case stemming from money owed since 1979. The U.S. has had a long-standing policy of not paying ransom for hostages, and the Obama administration described the payment as "leverage" for the release of U.S. prisoners.

Warren Would Be 'Driving Force' Behind Senate Majority, Obama Says

President Barack Obama is trying to convince Democratic donors to open their wallets by telling them liberals like Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren would be the “driving force” if control of the Senate changes hands.

Sending Hillary Clinton to the White House won’t matter much unless Democrats control some legislative levers, according to Obama's pitch. For that to happen, the party needs to fill its campaign war chest.

“Some of the most important achievements we’ve won together since I’ve been president wouldn’t have been possible without a Democratic majority in the Senate,” Obama writes in a Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee mailer.

“The bottom line: If we want to see real change continue after I leave office, then we must win back the majority in the Senate this November,” the president writes.

Trump effect spills into Pennsylvania Senate race

Sen. Pat Toomey is feeling the effect of Donald Trump's sagging poll numbers in the critical battleground state of Pennsylvania.

Up until a few weeks ago, the Republican senator was consistently leading Democratic rival Katie McGinty in this year's most expensive Senate race so far.

But if Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton maintains her double-digit edge in the Keystone State, pollsters and strategists don't see how Toomey can withstand Trump's down-ballot drag.

“That’s got to be a red flag for Toomey, who looked like he was cruising along,” said Tim Malloy, assistant director of the Quinnipiac University Poll, which has McGinty up 3 points and Clinton surging by 10 points. A month earlier, the survey had Toomey leading by 10 points and Trump, the Republican presidential nominee, by 2 points.

Political observers in the state say the Senate race is unequivocally tied to the top of the ticket. Trump has said he can put a Democratic-leaning state like Pennsylvania into play, but his dip in the polls there comes after a rough couple of weeks mired by controversial remarks and a major campaign shake-up.

Amazon Dramatically Improves 'The Tick' In Streamable Pilot

The Tick’ has latched on to Amazon’s new linuep of shows, but one thing is for sure: it definitely doesn’t suck.

When the first images for Amazon’s The Tick surfaced, I groaned a little. A gritty reinvention of Ben Edlund’s superhero parody? Yeah, no, I’m good. Tick does not have a place in smoky brown warehouses like he’s in Arrow.

But Wally Pfister and Tick creator Ben Edlund’s new effort for the streaming service is something else. Combining razor-sharp wit and emotional devastation, Amazon’s The Tick is inexplicably more fulfilling in 22 minutes than the slice of comedy gold that was the cult 2001 show with Patrick Warburton. Because of the profound impression that iteration of The Tick left, you might be curious what’s new and what’s so great about a reboot no one asked for. Turns out, there’s a lot.

On paper, giving Arthur a tragic backstory is a bad idea. Just like the comic book (and cartoon, and 2001 show), giving these characters real motivations feels misguided; having virtually no origin actually spoke volumes about the superhero genre. In the new pilot, The Tick (played hysterically and perfectly by Peter Serafinowicz) still comes out of nowhere, but Arthur’s origin with the loss of his family is straight out of a Batman graphic novel — a good one, like from the ‘80s or something.

Is Lyft in trouble?

It is not an easy thing to be an independent ride-hailing company these days.

For one, it takes billions of dollars and hundreds of employees to spread to new cities, to market the service and to recruit drivers. Legislators and local laws are often not in your favor. And competitors with deep pockets from all over the world are waiting to cheer if you happen to fail.

Lyft, the second-biggest ride-hailing company in the United States behind Uber, is grappling with those forces — but has found that its options are limited.

The company, which is based in San Francisco, has in recent months held talks or made approaches to sell itself to companies including General Motors, Apple, Google, Amazon, Uber and Didi Chuxing, according to a dozen people who spoke on the condition of anonymity because the discussions were private. One person said it was Lyft who was approached by interested parties.
