(22,696 posts)there should be a way to fund an organization that helps anybody who needs to get an ID to vote to get one no matter if it's getting a birth certificate or just a ride to the DMV--just do it. And that in no way precludes fighting it in court as well. But get them the ID so they can vote.
But here in Wisconsin as far as voter ID is concerned, elections have consequences because in 2010 the state of Wisconsin was totally controlled by the Democrats. In the midterms that year, and here our governor is always elected in a midterm election, Scott Walker won and he received 90% of the vote that John McCain got here in 2008 and his Democratic opponent, Tom Barrett only received 65% of the vote that went to Barack Obama who easily won the state.
On top of that, the Republicans took total control of the state government and since 2010 was a census year they proceeded to gerrymander the state when they took power and then they also passed a voter ID law to additionally help them retain their power. The Left did not turn out and vote in that election but the Republicans did.
