...the draft, like voting, and the jury duty is part of being a citizen of this Republic. It is the core symbiotic relationship between the individual and the state. The state grants different privileges and rights (there is a difference between rights and privileges for those wondering) to its citizens in return for service to the state. We can debate the level of involvement one must partake to be considered a citizen and and how power the states should have vs the individual but the fabric of an ordered society is this relationship..

I have already opted out despite having a college degree. But younger males are choosing not to go to college altogether avoiding the crushing student debt. Instead they are going in a different direction in this two tiered economy created by the 1%. People used to use a white centered point of view of judging black males but now we are starting to realize that they are opting out of the system is a form of protest. They are making a rational choice that seemed alien to use at the time but now we are starting to see why they are making such choices.
