of the pain and he claimed that she was trying to elbow him in the face. Of course, there was no video of the alleged assault because he conveniently had her march out of the view of the dashcam to the shoulder of the road before pushing her down and cuffing her.

On the audio of the dashcam footage of the traffic stop, you can hear the arresting officer initially claim that she was cuffed for resisting arrest before correcting himself and claiming that he was assaulted when talking the other officers that responded to the scene.

Encinia, the arresting officer, was indicted for perjuring himself in front of the grand jury regarding his account of why he pulled Bland out of her car. If he was lying about his reason for initiating physical force. There's no reason to believe that he wouldn't have put a bullshit charge on her.

I hate to break this to you, but cops routinely put bogus charges on people who "disrespect" them. It's called bringing somebody in "on a humble." For an extreme example of this phenomenon, look up what the NYPD did to pro basketball player Thabo Sefolosha, who was arrested, prosecuted and acquitted of charges of assaulting police officers and obstruction of justice after he had his leg broken by a group of cops because he called one a "midget."
