It probably wasn't even a true assault rifle, but instead a semi-auto.
Remember you fight with your pistol to get to the rifle/shotgun.
I have a keltec sub2000 as my HD firearm if for some reason my HD pistols won't do the trick. I sure don't have time to fetch one of the AR's out of the safe.
I keep the sub under the bed in a locked endo box so it would still be several seconds before I could put it into action.
Right now I'm looking for a new HD pistol in the 45 or 40 flavor. Such a tough decision...Maybe a revolver since I only have one revolver in my inventory (and I've never shot it since getting it in 1986)

Also, adjustable stocks are not illegal in most states as they are in California
